The Blooming Austria Foundation and the Lower Austrian environmental movement "Nature in the Garden" are using the "Butterflies of Austria" app to call for Austria's first census of butterflies. The Austrian butterflies urgently need our support and a lobby. About half of the 4,070 butterfly species occurring in Austria are endangered - Austria is still one of the countries in Europe with the most butterflies!

The app contains 140 Austrian butterfly species - butterflies - with high-quality photos and precise profiles. The number of species will be increased in the coming months. With the app, butterflies can be photographed and identified quickly and easily. The dating app “Tinder” is a role model here. The right butterfly can be found and "matched" in a playful way using clear filters and "swiping". Already saved and existing butterfly photos can be uploaded and determined.

If a butterfly cannot be identified, the community is activated and involved - help can be requested. The users of the app are then called upon to submit comments and identification tips. Under the heading "Best List" you can always find up-to-date information on the most frequently seen butterflies, the most diligent observers and the most diligent helpers. It is possible to create a personal favorites list, the photos can be shared and liked. A calendar of events and information about butterflies and butterflies in Austria complete the app.

Regardless of whether butterflies are observed and reported in one's own garden, while hiking, on school trips or while walking through the park: Austria's largest butterfly portal and a nationwide citizen science project are being set up together.
