"Best Medicine App 2013" (Android App Magazine 1/2014)

The emergency primer "Medications and guidelines in emergency medicine", which has already been sold 58,000 times, is now available as an internet-independent, interactive emergency app. Hundreds of medications, dosages, scores, algorithms, ventilation parameters in emergency medicine and intensive care medicine as well as anesthesia can now be calculated in a matter of seconds. A kids quick calculator shows you all the cardiopulmonary parameters and dosages for a child, for example a newborn weighing 3.5 kg. All scores and tables (GCS, APGAR, ASA, NACA, NYHA, Baxter, VIP, BMI etc.) are operated interactively by simply tapping on the screen. All dosages are stored with a calculator that calculates bolus doses as well as continuous applications at lightning speed - from newborns to obesity permagna. For example, the app provides not only the simple resuscitation dose of adrenaline, but also the setting of the perfusor for a toddler in cardiogenic shock - or do you prefer vasopressin (Pressyn)?

The primer not only offers tailor-made information for emergency doctors and paramedics in the rescue service, but also for all doctors working in practice and clinically, especially for doctors and qualified nurses in anaesthesia, intensive care and emergency medicine< /b>.

The search is carried out in a flash from a wide variety of perspectives: From the full-text search via commercial or non-proprietary names or via indications, you will always find your way quickly and from there to related terms and explanations, if desired. A glossary explains every term and every abbreviation used precisely and can be called up directly from the texts. Medical algorithms such as algorithms for ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome) according to ESC, Advanced Life Support, CPR guidelines and newborn CPR according to ERC can be operated interactively. Parameters for ventilation and intubation can be called up and calculated quickly and easily. Other useful functions such as a note and favorites function as well as emergency telephone numbers that can be dialed directly round off the comprehensive app.

But where is the advantage of an app compared to a paperback, what is better about a small screen text compared to a clearly printed standard work? Nothing is better - even the battery could fail or the bright sunlight blinding - unless a team of professional computer scientists from the Institute for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Documentation of the Medical University of Graz, the Research Unit Human-Computer Interaction (also Graz) and the Graz University of Technology use well-established know-how that has been developed over decades to create something completely new: Compressed, yet clear information for acute care physicians, which can all be found, linked and calculated in a flash.

I wish you every success in your acute medical assignments in the clinical and preclinical areas!

The AGN emergency primer is recommended by: ÖRK (Austrian Red Cross), ÖNK (Austrian Society for Emergency and Disaster Medicine), ARC (Austrian Resuscitation Council), ÖBRD (Austrian Mountain Rescue), IKAR -CISA (International Commission for Alpine Rescue) and the MC (Medizinercorps Graz).

Note on app permissions: The location data permission is only required for the optionally activated "Share my location" function and must be explicitly permitted with current Android versions.
