I find this app very useful. It allows me to stay more in tune with the smaller towns and areas surrounding my home, things I would otherwise not know unless I watched news all the time or 'stumbled' on a source, usually past its relativity. It's also really good to have for travel too! Especially for those who work out of town or visit/pass through rural areas.

Downloaded for the 2023 wildfires and have appreciated the alerts so far. Improvements I'd like to see are short text notifications on the lockscreen i.e. "evac area expanded" as I'm not always near the phone when it alerts. Also, a very clear note showing "NO CHANGES" on the evac alerts and notices that are simply repeats. Or even better: highlight text and map outlines showing what has been changed since the last update, preferably with time and date.

I'm grateful we have an app, however some bugs could be sorted. I get some counties are large but can they not be subdivided within the app into smaller areas so info is more relevant? Also many messages are repeated. I'm not sure if that's the app or the SMS push messages doubling but it's a lot of messages for the same thing that may or may not be relevant to your geographical area.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you found the area too big and thank you for your suggestion of sub-dividing. To help reduce the amount of alerts, you can choose the types of alerts and locations you receive alerts for in the settings of the app. Please contact us at alberta.emergency.alert@gov.ab.ca if we can help you with this.
