Accurate Compass has a 3D view along with an intuitive user interface. This tool works exactly like a normal compass and is easy to use for:
-checking (magnetic) North, South, East, and West,
-navigating unfamiliar places,
-finding out the bearing of objects in the distance,
-or just checking which way your garden faces!
The compass also shows the bearing (in degrees) in a side window and its 3D view will work even when your device is not held parallel to the ground.
Note that this app relies on the magnetometer of your mobile device so accuracy may vary. Also, please check that your device isn’t being affected by a magnetic field. There is advice on calibrating your device within the app.
This app is supported by adverts, which is why it requires the “INTERNET” and “ACCESS NETWORK STATE” permissions.

This compass app is great! It works with or without cell service and allows you to turn off filtering (to see the amount of fluctuations in the magnetic field). I'm purchasing the paid version to help support the developers. Their sun position app is also a fine app.

It's an ok compass but.... Not accuate. No matter how many times I do the calibration figure eight, it's off by 10°. Should be able to turn my phone 90° from north and be right on east, but I have to turn my phone 100° to be on east. When I slowly turn my phone (on a flat table may I add) and it gets back to north, it is 20° off, 380° instead of 360°

Often it is on, but sometimes it is off by 100-150 degrees. If I were lost I would never use it.
