About this app

Bird Data - Colombia is a field guide for the birds of Colombia. It has taxonomic, range, subspecies, and other information for over 1900 species of birds found in Colombia, the country with the most species of birds in the world. Included are Colombia-centered range maps for all species. Directly downloadable into the application are 2400 photos of over 1850 different species, and over 2900 bird songs and bird calls.

Photos and sounds are included for most species. Media (images and sounds) can also be downloaded individually. Photos and maps and sounds (new) can be downloaded in bulk. Bird species can be navigated through taxonomy or native language (English or Spanish).

Also included is a map feature that ties into the eBird Hot Spot and sighting database. See where your target species have been seen recently, or explore sightings at nearby locations.

The latest release has a sound recorder for recording bird calls and field notes.

The application is free, but a donation is appreciated.

Ridiculous app. The opening screen is a textual list of bird-orders .. what the heck should someone do with that ? Even without a picture of some typical species for the order. You have to tab through textual lists to come to a species and then .. every single image/photo/map must be downloaded. I have quite some experience with bird-apps, but this is the most ridiculous one I met so far.

You can download all of the data all at once in the download menu. You can configure the menus to be in English or Spanish or taxonomy in Settings. There is a menu on the top right. It is a good idea to put a small images for the different orders. FYI, in Latin America most birders know the latin names better than other names.
