About this app

Anyone who wishes to control their craving for food can use CraveControl. Psychologists have found that cravings often begin with a visual element. This may be prompted from something we see or even by changes in our own bodies.

CraveControl uses a technique called Dynamic Visual Noise or DVN to reduce craving. When someone concentrates on CraveControl’s DVN pattern as soon as a craving (e.g. for chocolate) starts, the app helps stop the craving imagery from forming. This then limits the development of the craving.

Research has found that concentrating on a DVN pattern for as little as eight seconds as soon as a craving starts can significantly reduce the craving. People who do this are less likely to eat following a craving and as a result consume fewer total calories.

Although developed as an aid to dieting, CraveControl can help overcome cravings for smoking, gambling, coffee or any craving with a visual element.

CraveControl has been developed for Android by psychologists Chris Bevan and Tim Gamble. For more information on CraveControl, Dynamic Visual Noise and the research that underpins this app, visit: http://www.chrisbevan.co.uk/cravecontrol.
