Incredibly cluttered UI with really bad dark mode (some key text is dark grey text on black background, links are bright red and often are the majority of a paragraph), the "listen" button for each article combine to take up about a quarter of the screen (why not use long press for listening options and bookmarking?). The app isn't enjoyable to use. As for content, too many article titles are worded like click bait. Disappointing.

Too rigid. The predefined options are sport (zero interest), lifestyle (yawn), culture (fluff). Politics which I want nowhere to be seen nor business. The email summaries are far more useful. I shan't be renewing and it's because of this app. Also it's weird how they overload articles with hyperlinks, it makes reading articles messy. And often many of the links just go to the very same page.

I like the Independent and its style of writing but the text format annoys me. so many words are underlined and highlighted because they are URLs and it makes it difficult to read. They've suggested I contact customer services as "they'd love to hear about this view" but I contacted them and they told me there's nothing they can do (which is not true, they are deciding not to do anything, technically it's possible). I guess their comment here was just to pretend they care about this feedback.
