Love the tweakability in the app. Can set which strings/frets to focus on. I'm using identify mode. It plays a tone & highlights on the fretboard. At bottom of screen, musical alphabet laid out chromatically. Click the note you think it is, see if you're right. Can also select number of notes per game & receive a score of correct (say 8/10) and average time to hit the answer. Short & shallow learning curve to figure out the game. Can't find anything to complain about. Really nice app 10/5 stars

One of two apps I use daily on my breaks at work. I feel it's helped me a lot, though still only a "helper" to practicing on a real instrument. The following quibbles are to be taken as suggestions for improvement, not complaints about the app as it stands. I'd really, Really, REALLY like to have sound available when the selected instrument isn't guitar (specifically, for me, mandolin). No need to imitate the actual sound of the instrument--the "guitar" sounds aren't all that good, either--as long as the PITCH is there to hear. I'd also like to see a 5-string mandolin option. I'll also echo two suggestions I've seen in other reviews: an option to hide fret numbers, and a "random within the key of:" pattern.

Like everyone says, just what one needs, and very well implemented for what it does. But please, please put in an option to remove the fret numbers, or just get rid of them. I want to find the notes on my guitar, which, like every other guitar, does not have numbers on the fretboard. It makes it too easy to totally ignore the fretboard and just paint-by-number. Then to find the note on my actual guitar I have to do something you haven't trained me for. PLEASE! I wish I could show you a photo of the rubber band I use to block out the fret numbers.
