Informative Podcasts

The "Informative Podcasts" app is a podcast client with an integrated collection of informative and serious podcast channels. You can listen to contributions regardless of when they are sent or download them to your Android device.

The data sources are made available as so-called RSS feeds by the mostly public law publishers so that they can be displayed in podcast clients - such as this app.

Of course, no advertising, no in-app purchases, no data sniffing, all completely free of charge. Small installation file - and takes up little memory on your device. Made for tablets and suitable for phones.

The creator of the app is not one of the named public service publishers of the data sources, but Ingo Schendel, a long-time radio listener and professional developer. The developer of the app also uses the application himself on a daily basis.

For compliance reasons, the name of the pre-installed data sources is no longer mentioned in the store entry and the data sources are also made unrecognizable on the screenshots. The demo content shown on the screenshots is purely fictional and is only intended to give an impression of the layout of the application - in the installed version of the app you will of course find REAL content!

Note: The app needs an internet connection. A standard player must also be set up for playing MP3. "Informative Podcasts" does not use its own player, you have the choice. I use the free VLC media player myself.

On my old Samsung Galaxy Tab A running Android 4.4, the app has been a little bit squirming recently. Everything runs smoothly on emulators under Android 5.1 (Lollipop) on the one hand and with my new reference device under Android 10 (Lenovo Tab M8, TB8505X - the narrow-gauge version again).

Since there are no longer any security updates for older Android versions, I generally recommend switching to a device with the latest Android in the event of problems or - if possible - installing the current Android operating system on your device.

All the information sources are German Public Radio and only send broadcasts in German. All podcasts are only available in German, too. So if you do not understand german it might not make sense to install this app.
