About this app

MTG Familiar is a powerful utility app for Magic: The Gathering.

The application includes a two-player life counter which tracks life, poison, and a history of changes.

The included die roller includes choices for D2, D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20, and D100.

The mana pool and spell counter can keep track of your mana effortlessly, and is especially useful for all you Storm combo players out there.

The offline card search allows you to search for any card in the game without an internet connection. You can search by:
-Name
-Type / Subtype
-Ability Text
-Color
-Power / Toughness
-Converted Mana Cost
-Set / Format
-Rarity
-Flavor Text
-Artist

You can even check a card's legality for Block, Standard, Extended, Modern, Legacy, and Vintage.

If you do have an internet connection, the app can deliver real time prices, courtesy of TCGPlayer.com, download full card images, and link you to the card's official Gatherer page.

You can compare trades with current prices in the Trade Cards screen and keep a wishlist of cards you want to trade for.

Also included is a round timer, which will run in the background no matter what you do with your Android device.

The app has searchable, linked comprehensive rules built in, so you can settle rules disputes with ease. They are also self-updating!

This app is a free, open source project released under the GPL and Creative Commons licenses. You can get the source code, or join the team here: https://code.google.com/p/mtg-familiar/

This app is ad-free, and always will be! A must-have for any Magic the Gathering player!

This app is perfect and not in the Phyrexian way. I primarily use the app for just browsing the database, so a connection to wifi for prices or trading is useless to me, but that's a complaint about a feature the app has. It is flawlessly simple to me beyond that and ESPECIALLY love the part where I don't have ads creeping in around any corners or have data being shared with unneccessary parties. I have seen the issues about constant updates, but that is a setting you can adjust about the app.

Just want to echo the other reviews. The app used to be great, really handy search parameters and I love handling trades in the trading section, among other cute side things like running momir or a life counter. Recently though, the app has to "update" the card database with the cards every single time and takes forever to do it, and sometimes doesnt get all the sets either. Once this problem is fixed, it's the best magic app out there imo

The database updates EVERY SINGLE TIME you open the app. It takes about 5-10 minutes to become usable. Top that off the card pictures almost always having an issue and crashing the app in random intervals, the only reason this app gets a 2/5 is because it's one of the better MTG apps out there since it also doubles for a play calculator. If those 2 issues were fixed, I'd bring my score to a 4 or a 5.
