About this app

Monitor strength of your wifi network, (and those nearby). Use to find a good location for your wifi hub. Or use to identify a channel with little overlap with neighbouring networks.

Please Note: For Android 9 and higher, the rate at which other networks are scanned is greatly reduced (unless you turn off WiFi-throttling on your device). Therefore you may see slow performance from the Channel, Graph and List screens of the app which are used for scanning nearby networks. However this should not effect the Gauge Screen for monitoring your own wifi network.

App has 4 screens:

• Gauge – shows the signal strength of the currently connected wifi network. Also shows maximum, minimum and average values. Graph with auto-scale & speed options.

• Channel – shows how the wifi networks are spread across the channels and overlap each other.

• Graph – shows how the signal strength of all nearby networks vary with time. Auto-scale & speed options. Select which networks to display.

• List – Contains basic information for all the detected networks: name, mac address, frequency, channel, encryption type and signal strength.

Note that to scan for wifi networks, location services needs to be enabled on your device and also the app given location permission. (For Android 12 and above, the location permission needs to be set to precise).

For indication only.

This used to be my favorite Wi-Fi detection app, back on Android 8.1, but it doesn't seem to work under Android 10 at all. The app launches, but it cannot see any networks. The instructions in the app say to give it location permissions all the time, but I am not being provided that option by the os. I'm afraid I'm going to have to delete this app.

I've used this app for years and until recently it has been great, ad driven, but that was never a problem. Recently it's stopped working without access to location services (which I always have turned off.) I don't know what that's all about, but I uninstalled it. EDIT- In fairness to the developer it seems that the restriction is due to the OS. I'm on Android 9 and I understand that this has been a thing since Android 6. I have no explanation as to why it's worked till now.

Super useful tool for a quick wireless check. The only issue I've found is, on the list, the signal strength reading blanks out during rescan. i do wish there was a way to filter to see only 2.4GHz or 5GHz. All in all, any limitations aren't a real concern, because if im going to do a serious wireless assessment, I'm going to use a full blown PC based tool. Regardless, I would even be willing to pay for a non-ad version, with more filtering options, and less screen space wasted on a frame.
