About this game

BV-G is a practice app for Blackjack and Spanish 21 basic strategy and card counting designed to operate on tablets and smartphones. The app is modeled after Casino Verite Blackjack, mentioned in 25 books. It is not possible on mobile devices to support all of the features of CV Blackjack implemented over the last 20 years. However, the app supports more functionality than all other Blackjack apps put together. Features include:

Realistic graphics – Screen space is not wasted on cartoonish graphics, like glowing tables. Useful graphics, cards, shoes and discard trays, are realistic, casino-style images. For example, there are 228 photo-realistic images of discard trays and shoes merged into a felt table.

Playing Strategies – The following strategies are included: Basic Strategy, High-Low, Halves, KO, Omega II, AOII, Red7, Zen, Hi-Opt I, Hi-Opt II, REKO, FELT, KISS-I, KISS-II, KISS-III, Spanish 21, Superfun 21, Expert, Silver Fox, and UBZ2. (Revere and Uston also available on request.) Complete index tables for each with mods for common rules are included from the books with permission. Unusual strategy deviations are supported, like: Hit with 4 or more cards or any 678 possible. You can also import strategies created with Casino Verite Windows software. Card counters can detail how they calculate counts. For advanced players, unbalanced truecounts and sidecounts are supported.

Betting Strategies – Card counters can also define a betting strategy.

Casino Database – A database of U.S. and Canadian casinos is included. Subscribers to CBJN may download monthly updates.

The Table – One, two, four and six seat tables are allowed in landscape mode. One or two seats in portrait. (Phones only support portrait for the table.) You can play one to six seats at once. You can also set computer players to randomly enter and leave the game.

Speeds – Dealer, computer player and payoff speeds can be changed.

Gestures – All decisions can be made with gestures or by tapping.

Standard Options – You can set number of decks, shuffling rules, the 18 common variations, cards face up or down, European rules, dealer hits or stands on soft 17, split to up to four hands, and table limits.

More variations – Unusual rules like double on three cards, redouble, triple down, double down rescue, player 22 counts as 21, 5, 6 and 7 card Charlie are supported.

Bonuses – 17 unusual bonuses and Blackjack variations are included.

Dealer actions – The dealer can be optionally set to peak under tens and/or aces, show burn cards, point out stupid plays, and make obvious plays.

Unusual games – Some games have unusual rules and some have side bets. The following new games are included:
Spanish 21, SuperFun 21, Blackjack Switch, Double Exposure, Over/Under 13, Royal Match, Lucky Ladies, 21+3, Big Slick, Bonanza Blackjack, Dare any Pair, Field of Gold, High Tie Bonus, Lucky Lucky, Match the Dealer, Red/Black, Pair Square, Perfect Pairs, Super 7s, and Sweet 16.

Custom games – You can also create and import and share custom games created with CV Blackjack.

Dealer errors – This is another attempt at casino realism and is important, particularly in newer casinos. When set, on occasion the dealer will make an error. You are tested to catch these errors.

Biases – Random play does not present you with difficult situations very often. Most of your time is wasted playing easy hands. The point of these options is to make better use of your practice time. You can set one of five types of biases, like increasing the times hands that you have incorrectly played in the past will appear.

Hole-carding - This advanced method of play is used when you happen to get a peek at the dealer downcard. A strategy is included by which your play is tested.

Statistics – Statistics are kept, errors logs are kept, and error counts are kept by hand.
We also have an online 540 page free book on Blackjack and the most active Blackjack forum on the web.

Love Norman's work! All his apps seem like something from the first generation of desktops/tablets; nostalgic, has that casino feel and absolutely fantastic at what they do. Licensing is pretty rough but hopefully the play store will keep updates cheap! Would really like a way to stay out of a hand in order to back count and test my Wonging strategy.

Really amazing app for customizing here! The only extra features I'd want are ability to add zero/negative counts to betting strategies to support e.g. Reko 6 deck ramps, and some way to consult the play strategy tables for the current strategy from in game without needing to quit back to the options and lose the current game state. Thanks for your hard work!

Okay, I get why everyone says this is the best blackjack training app out there! There are a few bugs though. 1) the discard tray has no graphic on an 8 deck shoe. As this is the most common shoe out there, it's the most important for folks to see. Also, for non-standard games, super fun 21 players edge etc. The running count is always at 0.
