About this app

Measure and get instant feedback on your rowing technique. Indoors the Virtual Coach guides towards correct rhythm and style.

On water rowing: stroke rate, boat acceleration and speed as well as time and distance.

To get the most of the App you need a separate Pod to measure and analyze how you are moving your oars and seat.

The pod is available at http://www.rowingperformance.com/shop and you can easily attach the pod on either oar or on your seat to get instant feedback on your technique.

Your phone should preferably be water proof since you need to rigidly attach it on the boat, somewhere close to the foot stretcher where you can see the feedback.

The App provides the following graphs: Boat Acceleration, Oar Blade flight path, Oar Performance, and Seat Speed. Also we provide traditional metrics such as SPM, speed, distance and time. You can see your oar stroke angle in real time each stroke as well as your maximum seat speed during your drive.

You can only have one pod attached at any one time so to measure two oars at the same time you need two phones. However, it is easy to move the pod from one oar to the other even while you're on water.

Indoor rowing:
Attach the phone to the indoor rowing machine handle and the pod to the seat (Concept2) or body of the machine (RP3, C2 on slides) to get instant feedback on your indoor rowing technique.
The Quiske App gives information on the rhythm of your drive and recovery. It gives instant feedback in terms of numbers as well as two graphs showing the speed of the handle and the seat (or legs).

Recorded workout can be analyzed afterwards by selecting Summary in Sessions list, or sharing Per Stroke data to email

Good for realtime feedback seems accurate even without the sensors, but you need a subscription to access and view any recorded data, apparently this also gives you an analysis. I think 49€ for 6 months is a lot to spend in one hit and they would benefit from allowing a trial period first so that you can see the type of analysis you can do and what format the data comes out in, how easy it is to access etc. Don't mind paying, but want to nake sure it suits my needs first.

Can't connect to the GPS on my android phone so it's useless to me. It also can't display speed as time per 500m which seems odd since this is the standard measure on ergs and amongst coaches. It may be that 500m splits can be shown, but they are not an option in units and one can't be expected to divine that some complicated long press would do anything. And although the app did ask permission to use the phone location it still didn't find the GPS.

Hi James, 500m split is fully supported. With a long key-press you can select which metric is displayed in UI, e.g. split vs speed. Under setting you can tailor UI further. When app is started first time it will ask permission to use GPS which is needed for speed, split and distance. In indoor rowing GPS is not necessary.
