Build your Lakota vocabulary with Lakota Language Consortium’s FREE vocabulary game for your Android phone or tablet. Quiz yourself everyday to learn different categories – wild animals, food, drinks, and more! The free version of the app includes:
➢ 20 culturally-relevant categories designed by Lakota speakers
➢ 10-25 words per category, for a total of 200-500 words!
➢ Audio pronunciation and visual aid for each word in the category
➢ Quiz yourself by matching English words to Lakota words, and vice versa
➢ Progress through levels to unlock new words
➢ Track your progress and review words you’ve learned by category or activity
Additional categories are available (~40 categories, and growing!) with purchase of the app, for only $0.99!
After downloading and opening the app, choose ‘Download New Words’ to get started on learning Lakota vocab!

The only problem is that the "sound" button doesn't seem to work. I press the speaker and it makes a "tapping" sound, but it doesn't speak the word. I can't move past the voice section of the first category unless I guess (I want to learn not guess), nor do I get the benefit of hearing what the words sound like. If that wasn't an issue, I would have given 5 stars! Maybe it could be fixed? Edit: After a 3rd reinstall all seems to be working. Looking forward to using this!

Hi Isabella. First I would try to make sure that your device's "media" volume is turned up to at least medium, and make sure your phone is not on airplane mode. As a last resort, I suggest downloading the app again to see if that fixes the issue. Thanks for supporting Lakota, and for your feedback!

The sound/pronunciation doesnt work on my Galaxy J3 V. I have tried an uninstall/reinstall and have my media volume all the way up. As well, I cannot type in the selected writing boxes. The rest works fine. UPDATE: Just re-downloaded the app. I made sure the screen did not timeout during the download and launched it right after. The sound worked and the sound button was clickable. I did not try to type in the writing boxes yet, but I will when I see them and post another update. Thank you.

Hello Kyle. We have done some investigation and tweaking to the service that provides these audios. I encourage you to give the reinstallation another chance. Please note that your device should not be allowed to go to sleep while the files are downloading. We really appreciate your feedback!

Did not get to even use the app! It's broken it keeps telling me to check my internet connection but yet my wifi at home and my phone internet are both working fine for everything else. The app is not working will not open I clicked on download words and it just keeps saying check my internet connection 😡 so I don't know what the app is like because it will not let me use it.
