Ugly Mugs

Safe IQ Ugly Mugs is a free safety scheme for workers in Ireland. It improves the safety of workers by bringing workers together to share information about potential dangers.

It is free and it is available to all workers in Ireland. Please note our geographic focus is Ireland (Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland). If you are working in another jurisdiction you should look for a safety scheme that covers your region.

We regret that, as of 2 November 2023, we have been compelled to remove the call screening features of this app that we had for the last decade. All the other existing features are retained. You can still view nearby alerts, check phone numbers, and make reports.

Installation

You will be asked to give the app permission to perform some functions when installing. These permissions are explained below if you would like further information about any of them:

Network communication, Full Internet access - The app requires full internet access in order to fetch information from the Ugly Mugs database.

Using the App

Once installed the app will ask you to login with your Ugly Mugs username and password.

Nearby Alerts

This section shows you nearby alerts.

A red alert indicates a high level warning. Normal level warnings are orange. Low level warnings are yellow.

Search

You can search to find out if any phone number is in Ugly Mugs. If the number is in the database you can see when and why it was reported and read full details of incidents.

Report

You can easily report incidents to Ugly Mugs.

Languages

The app is available in 7 different languages. It detects the language settings on your phone and automatically offers you the matching language version.

Your Privacy

We don't log your phone number or any number that is checked against the Ugly Mugs database.
