About this game

Happy Atoms is the physical and digital teaching tool that lets you discover the world of molecules in an intuitive, hands-on way! This interactive learning tool combines a digital app with a physical modeling set that lets students from 4th grade through college approach chemistry from a different angle.

Happy Atoms requires the use of the Happy Atoms modeling set for full play! The sets are available at www.happyatoms.com and at many educational retailers!

Chemistry is an incredibly important subject that many students never fully grasp. Knowledge of chemistry is necessary to solve many real-world problems, but the way chemistry is taught now often fails to capture studentsā€™ imaginations, discouraging experimentation and discovery.

Happy Atoms aims to change that by offering a chemistry learning experience that sets itself apart.

* See the difference between elements
* Feel the forces that bond them together
* Experiment with ways to combine them
* Discover the relationships between molecular structure and properties

I was ready to send the kit I got back after a half hour of multiple people trying to use this app on multiple devices. But I decided to try tech support instead. The tech support responded quickly and helped me bypass the tutorial which is the most finicky about taking the pictures. Now that the app is up and running it's AWESOME! True, sometimes the picture taking can be a bit problematic. We have to find the right lighting and background in different parts of the house during different times of the day, but if I am patient with the set up, the kids become independent learners and are sooo excited every time the create a molecule. So the star rating: Good tech support saved it from a 1, but the daily ritual of finding the best lighting prevents it from achieving 5 stardom. The information, puzzles and application are soo worth the headache of setting it up.

Image recognition is worthless and doesn't offer a way to enter what you have manually or to correct what it failed to scan. It was even hard to get past calibration and was super frustrating. Too much "help" text, because the whole thing is super confusing. Get a better UX designer please. And if you need to, make the vision task easier for yourselves with April tags or something.

Is there a way to manually enter the molecules? It scanned my 2d kit wrong every time. I had to dig into the directions to learn that you have to click the camera 9 times to bypass the tutorial. I haven't tried entering a molecule yet because I couldn't get past the Calibration/tutorial.
