Bilingual News: Transcripts

Official transcripts application for the Bilingual News podcast.

Listeners are able to use transcripts while listening along with the podcast to study Japanese or English. Using the app, you can look up and learn words you don't know, create your own vocabulary lists, take notes and learn with friends.


[Bilingual News]

Bilingual News is a podcast covering world news with occasional guest appearances. It is conducted in a mixture of English and Japanese. The podcast audio is available for free and without ads on iTunes and the Google Podcast app.


[Free Content]

Transcripts for episodes 1-3 are also available for free.


[Cloud/Archive]

The Cloud page contains all available transcripts. All transcripts hosted on the Cloud are accessible to subscribed users.

The Archive tab contains all transcripts individually purchased by the user.


[Essay Tab]

The Essays tab is an active list of original essay content considering a wide range of subjects. The essays feature partial translations and vocabulary lists intended to assist the reader.


[Dictionary Function]

Users can look up the definition of a word within a transcript by highlighting it and tapping "Define"（辞書）.


[Self-Test Function]

This feature presents vocabulary to the user in a flash card style format. A character on the screen will evolve as the user progresses and learns new words.

Add words to the Word List（単語リスト) by highlight a word within a transcript and tapping "Add"（追加）.


[Notes Function]

Users are able to take notes on the Notes page, easily accessible from any transcript by swiping right.


[Word Lists]

Multiple word lists can be created with customs definitions and used in the Self-Test feature.


[Transcription Repair]

In the event that a transcript document does not display properly, this feature attempts to correct the problem by re-downloading the document.


[Print]

Print transcripts by tapping "Print" in the top right of any transcript document.


[Transcript Subscription]

All transcripts and essays are accessible via a ¥240/month subscription. The auto-renewing payment will be made via your iTunes account unless disabled a day before the end of the subscription period. Users are able to unsubscribe within the Account Settings menu.
