About this app

Easy to read translation with extensive footnotes. The New Testament comes alive with the flavor and
language of the 1st century!

Aramaic Peshitta New Testament Translation is a translation of the New Testament into English that is based on the Gwilliam text. This translation includes explanatory footnotes marking variant readings from the Old Syriac, Eastern text, and other Peshitta manuscripts. Other footnotes provide cultural understanding and a system of abbreviations that mark idioms and figures of speech so that they are easily recognizable. The translation is as literal as possible, but with readable English, giving the flavor and rhythm of Eastern language. Aramaic is the language of the first century and the Peshitta is the earliest complete manuscript of the New Testament.

About the Author:
Janet Magiera has been studying the Peshitta for over 32 years and has developed an entire database of the New Testament from the Aramaic, which produced an interlinear, concordance, parallel translations, and lexicon, as well as the Light of the Word Ministry translation. Her database is currently published with BibleWorks software and soon to be in Bible GT. Mrs. Magiera is an ordained minister and has been teaching Bible studies and classes throughout the country. She and her husband Glen live in San Diego, California.

Although Magiera doesn't make Aramaic Primacy claims, her translation is a coequal among the three best currently available English-direct-from-Aramaic New Covenant translations, all of which have weaknesses but all of which provide countless "treasures lost in the translation" into Greek and which can, in most cases, affirm original meaning via. the "word of two or three witnesses" rule for discerning truth. The New Covenant (Isaiah 54; Jeremiah 23.6, 31.27-37; Hebrews 8.6-13) is WAY better!!!!

This app. maybe O.K. but you can get the Old AND the New Testament Aramaic Peshitta in English by George M. Lamsa which is FAR more reliable than this version. It is because he grew up over there and therefore could translate it good and proper. He points out how the K.J.V. translaters INNOCENTLY mistranslated various verses and passages. He too covers idioms in the Bible though he does have a book set aside for that as well. I Highly recommend the LAMSA translation, best Bible out.👍🤠👍

Excellent app. Really good to understand what the bible said originally in Aramaic and handy to have it on my phone. I think it should be free though. Why so much for an app version of God's word?
