About this app

A Little APP About Cancer is designed to help elementary aged children who are experiencing cancer – through a parent, grandparent or other family member – deal with the hard times. Cancer can be confusing and scary for children. This app is a tool adults and children can use to open dialogue about the difficult topics of cancer in an interactive and creative way. The app doesn’t set out to act as a guide to explain the disease but it includes 30+ pages of age-appropriate, colourful interactive exercises and allows kids to ‘let it all out’ and work through what cancer means to them.

A Little APP About Cancer is a West Island Cancer Wellness Centre (WICWC) initiative created from the original workbook A Little Book About Cancer, the brainchild of Kasia Whitelaw, a student at McGill University who donated the original workbook (and all its profits) to the WICWC. This app would not have been possible without the generous unrestricted grants from our partners Amgen, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Merck and Novartis Oncology.
