About this app

The Wotwine Wine App is a revolution in getting you better supermarket wine.

Simply select a wine from the supermarket shelf, scan the barcode and get the Wotwine review comparing both quality and price to give you the true value of the wine in front of you. That’s it! If the Wotwine price is higher than the shelf price, buy it! You’re getting a great-value wine.

Hidden on supermarket shelves are good deals and bad deals. With Wotwine you bypass the supermarket pricing games and always get a great deal.

We’re independent and have bought all our wine from the same shelves as you. Our team of wine experts taste wines from 11 supermarket chains (Asda, Aldi, the Co-op, Iceland, Lidl, Marks & Spencer, Morrisons, Ocado, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose) to give you an independent value and review.

Our team use blind taste testing to review wines and decide what they would be prepared to pay. This is then compared to the wine’s retail price to determine whether or not wines are truly great value.

It was ok when it worked but that only lasted a total of two days. The scan function has stopped working and now the search function has packed up, too; seems to be stuck on a search for SW France even when I changed the parameters to look for something in Spain. I'm going to uninstall this. Tried to email them for help but my email was blocked.

Where to begin? Shall we start with incomplete database more or less every time it loads? The license for the barcode scanner not working forcing the user to type in the barcode number? Or the rare occasion it does load and work the fact the wine you're scanning hasn't been reviewed yet... So utterly pointless? 1 successful scan out of maybe 40. Not a good hit rate is it?

The content is really useful, but the app is too slow. Is it really necessary to update the database on every load? This means every time I fire this up whilst standing in the wine aisle, I'm hanging around like a lemon for a minute whilst it all updates. Could this be done in the background? I also struggle to find most of the wine on the shelf, as there are no photos of the bottles in the app, just the name. These two improvements would take this from a good idea, to a really useful app.
