I think some people play a lot of Type Moon-esque, 1000+ hour playtime visual novels and have set their expectations too high. Is this game short? Yes, I played it in one day with breaks in-between, but that doesn't make it bad. It doesn't need 20-50 hour routes. It's a simple creepy game with a pretty fun mystery. Is it a bit cliché? Sure, to some, but it's good enough for me. I don't need every VN experience to be life-changing. Sometimes simple is best. If you agree: play it. If not, move on.

"Bad End" is a horror visual novel lacking in horror. One attempt at a jump scare, but that's it. The story concept isn't unique to this genre, but it has its moments. There are numerous choices in the story, of which, only 1 of each is the "true" answer. Others are false paths. For those looking for intense blood and gore, this isn't it. Overall, the story is interesting, albeit short. A 20-50 hour path would make this much better, at a higher cost.

I like the concept a lot, but I feel the game is a bit too simple for my tastes. The characters are a bit one-dimensional and I couldn't get invested in them (excluding the one that was intentionally like that). That being said, I'd love a deeper and more in depth version of this. But again, that's just my preferences. My only real complaint is the music. Having light-hearted music kinda ruins the scene when you're deciding whether or not someone dies. Worth playing at least once for $.99
