Zulip is pretty good, but the Android app is not great, and has recently gotten 100x worse. It is now constantly closing. Every 5 minutes, I have to force quit the app and restart it, or else it'll close itself (OOM?) without fully shutting down every 15--30 seconds. Basically unusable for composing messages on mobile. Problem started a couple days ago. Before that, loading messages on startup was slow, but the app was otherwise 4--5 stars.

Had to pull back on using this great app because we're doing away with google play services, so message delivery/retrieval is not possible, unfortunately. Hopeful one day it can work reliably without google play services(please). Great app. Thank you for everything. Missing a lot of features, like a new message notification while in a chat. Customization needed, themes, profile pics. Needs a better layout - opening the app to all chats 1st.

First version never would display in English; the app always displayed in some foreign language so it was really difficult to navigate. Downloaded again for a new phone and always tells me "cannot connect to server" even though my connection is fine. Good desktop app but the phone app is just incredibly buggy in my experience. Will update if I ever get it to work.
