mobisaar - Mobility for All is a research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for 5 years. The aim of the project is to improve mobility opportunities for older people, the disabled and, in principle, residents of rural areas in the Saarland. The services and techniques to be developed in mobisaar should contribute to overcoming existing barriers in public transport and thereby increase the attractiveness of public transport.
With the project, the service, which was established in the predecessor project MOBIA in Saarbrücken, adapted to the new mobisaar concept and extended in several steps to the entire Saarland and is already in the regional association Saarbrücken, in the district of Saarlouis in the district of Neunkirchen and in the Saarpfalz district available. Core elements are a service offered by so-called mobility pilots (entry and exit assistance, escort service) combined with a technological application (passenger app, pilot app). With the passenger app offered here, users can request the required support from pilots before the start of the journey.
