About this app

This is the official app of the Jewish Museum of Franconia in Schwabach.

With this app, you can take a fascinating tour of Jewish life down the centuries in Schwabach. Explore the former center of the town’s Jewish life in Synagogengasse – Synagogue Lane. The tour takes you to the old synagogue, the former rabbi's house, the Talmud School and the houses of Jewish merchants, offering a wealth of information and stories about the people living here and life in a small Franconian-Jewish town.

The new Schwabach branch of the Jewish Museum of Franconia is open from 7 June!

The museum is located in a former Jewish home where a jewel of European Jewish cultural heritage was discovered – a historical sukkah with wall paintings from the late Baroque period. The symbolism found in the wall paintings is unique in Western Europe. In the permanent collection, the exhibits and a series of films provide a fascinating insight into the museum building’s history, the Jewish history of the town and the history of the surrounding Jewish communities. The displays also examine the historical and religious importance of the Festival of Sukkot in the past and present.
