About this app

Because of devastating bombings in World War II the city Wesel and their testimonies of more than 700 years of history have been almost completely destroyed. By the time window app that story comes alive. With interactive app that is based on the so-called "augmented reality", one goes to time travel through the city, looking through the camera of your smartphone or tablet through a window into the past. To accompany the time window Wesel on a journey through the history of the city and lets you experience how Wesel once looked.

Get to know the multifaceted face of Wesel at 18 selected stations. With the app you can take a guided tour through the city center as well as a bit away lying, but equally historic sites on their own. Here your smartphone or tablet acts like a keyhole in a bygone era. Once you open the time window at the stations, the historical photographs merge via Augmented Reality with the present. To see a direct comparison of the situation on the ground in the past and today in front of him. Information about the historical images you receive via text and audio guide.

Moreover, the card function helps to navigate your way to the different time slots in the urban area. So you can make your own journey individually. Depending on your interests, the available time or that place you can put together your route.

The Wesel Marketing GmbH has opened a whole new way to explore the city and its history with this innovative format. The time window Wesel enables experiential and catchy transmission of content that can be used indefinitely and at any place. The bilingual (German and English) available app aimed at Weseler citizens, school groups and tourists.

The content was created by the Wesel Marketing GmbH in cooperation with the City Archives Wesel. The translation of the texts in the English language as well as the setting for the English audioguide took before the pupils and students of bilingual history course in grade 11 of the Konrad-Duden-Gymnasium. Spokesman for the German audio guides is a native of Wesel and longstanding Tagesschau Jan Hofer.

Zeitfenster Wesel is also available offline. After downloading the app you have all the content without an Internet connection available.
