About this app

The MISIN smartphone app provides a mobile solution for the capture of invasive species field observation data. You can play an important role in the early detection and rapid response to new invasive threats in your area by contributing invasive species observations to the MISIN database. These data are then shared with an emerging network of database efforts for the tracking of invasive threats and are used by land managers to help make informed decisions regarding the management and impact of invasive species. Your data can be browsed through the MISIN website at: http://www.misin.msu.edu.

Features
•Identify and report 400+ invasive plant and animal species
•Capture and submit species observations from the field
•Include images taken in the field with your observation
•View real-time species distribution maps
•Browse images and species information on top Midwest invaders

The MISIN Invasive Species reporting smart phone application was developed by the Applied Spatial Ecology and Technical Services Laboratory at Michigan State University.

It would be nice if you could actually read the rest of the text that goes off the screen especially because where the *Terms are concerned. *For the record, I have no idea what the terms are because I couldn't read the whole thing! There is no option to scroll side to side and the magnification tool that is offered is already set to the smallest setting with the text going off the screen.

Hello Ginny, we will look into this issue about the text being off the screen. Would you be able to contact us directly at info@misin.msu.edu so that we can get a bit more detail as to the exact page in which the text is not visible. Thank you.

Not user friendly. It looks like they took a regular computer screen and tried to scrunch it down to fit on a cell phone without adjusting the format. There are still words off the screen or overlapping. There are over 400 invasive species to scroll thru to find the one you want, but only shows 5 at a time. They are in alphabetical order, a search feature would help. Also add a submit report button to the individual species boxes. I was pressing all over, waiting for something to happen.

Hi Jerry, could you please e-mail us directly at info@misin.msu.edu? We'd like more information on the issues that you are experiencing because this does not sound like normal behavior for the app. Thank you for your time.

This application is very frustrating. I installed and completed the registration process. After I submitted my registration, the screen turned white and nothing further happened. I then tried to log into the application and received a message that I used an invalid username. I repeated the registration process three times with the same results. Because the registration was unsuccessful, I can only operate in demo mode. Ridiculous! FYI, my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with updated software.

Hello Robert, we are glad to inform you that the issue with the registration was corrected this morning (5/22/19) after we were notified by someone having similar issues. You should now be able to register w/o any issues. Please contact us directly if you encounter any issues so that we can be made aware of the problem and address it. Thank you.
