Get an extra layer of security for ANZ Internet Banking with the ANZ Shield app.

ANZ Shield is an authentication app that generates a one-time passcode known as a “Shield Code”, which helps ANZ confirm that the requests being made for your accounts are genuine.
If you’re using ANZ Internet Banking or Internet Banking for Business you may be asked to provide a Shield code to authenticate payments and other activities.
 
Why do you need ANZ Shield?
 
Faster and secure access to high-value payments
• For Business customers, ANZ Shield is quick and easy to register so that you can get on with the things that matter. No more waiting for a security device to be issued to you in the mail.
• For personal banking customers, registering for ANZ Shield gives you quick access to higher payment limits. No need to visit a branch to take care of that payment. That’s handy.

Convenience without compromising your security
• In the past you may have used an SMS one-time passcode or an ANZ security device to authenticate. Now you can easily complete your ANZ Internet Banking activities with your phone and the ANZ Shield App.
• Access the ANZ Shield app wherever you are – even if you’re travelling overseas. It works offline, when you might not have mobile network coverage or internet connectivity.
 
It’s free – no fees involved
 
• ANZ Shield is a free app. Once the app has been installed and registered on the device, data usage is not required to generate a Shield Code.

Update: has there been any change since Nov 2023? As you have said, the latest version requires that our phones' Developer Options be disabled. I also need these on for other reasons, so have to turn off, use the app to generate a code, then turn on Developer Options and re-enable the options I use. Very annoying. Like the others, I'm really looking forward to this requirement being disabled. Apart from this overlooked development error, the app works really well for 2-step authorisations.

Has very serious bug. If I leave the ANZ Shield app on and the screen times out, the phone locks up completely, just a totally black screen with unresponsive buttons. The only way I have found to get out of it is a soft reset. The phone is only two months old (Samsung Galaxy S20 FE running latest Android 10). I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app twice but still the same problem. I don't get this with any other app. I guess its just another bit of amateurish junk bank 'security' software.

No longer works. No longer have an option to do banking when travelling. Was working perfectly, now ANZ has placed another restriction on how we can use our phones. If developer mode is enabled then this app doesn't work. It is amazing the lack of thought and intelligence that goes into making such decisions. It is not ok that we are being forced to only access banking by an insecure mobile device, and not ok that they are telling us how we can use our own device i.e. insecurely.
