About this app

InfoJellyfish is an application that shows a daily forecast of the presence of jellyfish.

InfoJellyfish is the mobile application, developed on both iOS and Android, which indicates the activity of jellyfish on the beaches of the entire country.

The increase in jellyfish that has occurred in recent years on the beaches continues to worry both bathers and entrepreneurs in the tourism sector. This initiative began to take shape in June 2013 and as of this date an information and prevention program was launched, which includes an application for mobile devices, InfoJellyfish, which alerts citizens to the presence of these invertebrates, in addition to the quantity, variety, and danger, in order to avoid annoying bites.

With the aim of creating that network of local observers along the entire coast, InfoJellyfish 2015 updated the application including a public chat in which any user who had the application could collaborate with their comment on the beach where they were or uploading an image of the beach and its surroundings.

In 2019, given the demand for surfers and other water sportsmen, the wave height is added to the app.

In 2020 an estimate of the number of people per beach is added.
