MEDIDRUG is a decision support system on the administration of drugs that provides alerts and recommendations on drug-drug interactions and drug-substance and guidance on dosing with links to evidence based medicine sources. MEDIDRUG is intuitive, fast and effective. It uses color codes to show the risk factors and provides suggestions and recommendations concerning the best alternatives for selected substances. Selection and research of drugs take place in two ways: using your smartphone or tablet camera to recognize the barcode of the packaging; typing the name of the drug or the room using the keyboard.
The database of the interactions are made by Medbase ltd, Finnish society of experts in drug therapy, which produces database for health professionals to effectively support the use and safe drug. In addition to his experience, Medbase collaborates with numerous experts in drug therapy of different countries, including those of the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, ensuring high-quality scientific and frequent content updates.
The contents of the data base of MEDIDRUG are composed of:
SFINX - contains relevant information, concise and validated, the consequences and recommendations supported by scientific literature or clinical trials referred to 'CPR drug (summary of product characteristics) Drug-drug and drug-substance, for more than 18000 interactions. Some relevant pharmacokinetic interactions can be anticipated on the basis of known metabolic pathways, they are also included pharmacodynamic interactions documented. Issuing warnings of possible interactions and provides medical recommendations on their prevention and control.
PHARAO (Pharmacologic Assessment Online) contains information on more than 1400 adverse effects from medication. Reviews are carried out in relation to 9 significant adverse effects from the clinical point of view: anticholinergic effect; risk of bleeding; Constipation; orthostatism; QT prolongation; renal toxicity; sedation; Risk of seizures; serotonergic effects. PHARAO controls the profile of the adverse effects of a single drug, and performs a review of the drug folders to analyze the patient's drug risk profile.
RENBASE provides concise information on changes in security and dosage of drugs for use in patients with renal insufficiency. In addition to the drugs used in clinical practice, they are also given information on vitamins, micronutrients and agents of special licenses. RENBASE analyzes the pharmacokinetics and safety of drugs and substances by dividing them into four categories, based on the degree of renal impairment, the glomerular filtration rate (GFR - as classified by the European Agency for drugs - EMA).
HEPARBASE contains information and recommendations on the safety and the proper dosage of the drug in patients with hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh classification formula EMA). The recommendations on dosing and safety are classified into four different categories.
GRAVBASE / LACTBASE provides concise information on drug safety during pregnancy and lactation. In addition to the clinically used drugs, the information available about vitamins, illicit drug abuse and commonly used as caffeine, nicotine, etc. GRAVBASE-LACTBASE security analysis on drugs and substances and divides them into four categories based on the level of documentation available and according to a risk assessment.
