Started by a local group of runners in 1977, Grandma’s Marathon has grown from just 150 participants its first year to now one of the largest marathons in the United States. Widely regarded as a world class event with small town charm, our race now welcomes more than 20,000 participants each June and brings with it close to $21M of economic impact to the region.
The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, named after the first-ever marathon champion, began in 1991 and is now one of the most popular 13.1-mile races in the nation. The William A. Irvin 5K followed shortly after in 1994 and is now the kickoff event to the weekend’s three-race schedule.

I really like being able to track specific runners, but it could be a smidge more user friendly for the non-runners. Also, it would be really cool if down the road there was technology or the ability to sync with smart devices to give words of encouragement /messages along the way to them.

The app in 2021 was better. The newer 2022 version is not as user friendly. There is no where to leave comments of encouragement-2021 i was able to do that. It also doesn't really live track the participant that i select- there are no updates pings or anything. My daughter ran in Utah and they used the Racejoy app... that one was fabulous. Wish this one was more like that one.

Standing in Duluth next to my husband our Grandma's Marathon app showed our runner in two different places as we both had the app on our phones. It's glitchy and not reliable. The timer function seems more accurate, so we calculated where to go based on her estimated finish time.
