About this app

Disaster Preparedness Starts With You

Your family may not be together when disaster strikes, so it is important to plan in advance: how you will contact one another; how you will get back together; and what you will do in different disaster situations. The SD Emergency app contains disaster preparedness information, like:

• The ability to create your own emergency plan
• The ability to build an emergency supplies kit

And when disaster strikes, the SD Emergency app will keep you and your family informed with:

• Emergency updates
• Interactive emergency maps
• Shelter locations
• ShakeReadySD Earthquake alerts from USGS
• Interactive earthquake maps from USGS

Plus, the app features a recovery section with resources during the aftermath of disasters.

The County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services (OES) created the SD Emergency app to better prepare and inform San Diego County residents and visitors about disasters. With SD Emergency, the tools you need to plan, prepare and respond in an emergency are right at your fingertips.

Lots of useful information, but the test alert was far too quiet to be audible in an actual emergency as it is set to the current volume of my phone and I have some hearing loss. The alert should be extremely loud and the volume should be independent of the phone's actual set volume or it will be dangerously useless.

It used to be awesome... But over the past 6-8mo or so, I've realized it's NOT sending me push-notifications or Emergency-Alert Audible Notifications any longer, even though from what I can tell in my App Settings- this function appears to be Enabled?! So NOW- this app's great for Reference of Emergency Situations that you ALREADY KNOW happened/are underway... But the major purpose of this App is to ALERT/NOTIFY you of an Emergency Situation taking place because you DON'T already know about it!!

great information to have, BUT a single high pitched beep from my phone is hardly an alert to an emergency. PLEASE change the alert sound to an option to select the sound and the duration of the sound. That way you'll have my attention when a fire is headed my way! (Do you read these reviews?)

What's new

Emergency bug fix for "Shelters" and "Local Assistance Centers" pages. They now redirect to the Emergency Map, which contains the same information.
