About this app

Glory to God is a Mobile edition of the Presbyterian hymnal Glory to God, with razor-sharp music, powerful search capabilities, sample piano recordings of hymns, interesting information about hymns and their authors, and the ability to access several different versions of hymns including pew, accompaniment, large print, projection, lead sheet, and instrumental (strings, brass, and woodwinds).

This free app includes the pew version of over 400 of the public domain hymns in Glory to God including favorites such as “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling,” “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing,” and “Take My Life and Let It Be.” You can add various editions of the hymnal, which include copyrighted as well as public domain hymns, with in-app purchases:
• Pew $19.99
• Large Print $24.99
• Accompaniment $49.99
• Accompaniment with FlexScores $99.99

For each hymn there is a page of information that may include a description of the hymn, a brief biography of the author or composer, and information for worship leaders such as performance suggestions and available arrangements. A brief audio clip is also available.

The search box allows you to search for hymns by first line, author, composer, topic, or scripture passages quoted or alluded to. A handy keypad lets you jump immediately to a hymn by number.

The Accompaniment with FlexScores edition includes everything in the other editions and adds our revolutionary FlexScores for most of the hymns. These include large print, lead sheet, projection, and instrumental versions. Users are able to adjust the music and text size of the scores and transpose them.

The versions offered for FlexScores include accompaniment, pew, lead sheet, projection, violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, alto saxophone, soprano or tenor saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, and tuba. For the instrumental versions, the music is transposed into an appropriate range and displayed in an appropriate clef for the instrument. The projection version enables you to connect your device to a projector and project hymns onto a screen.

A network connection is required to play audio samples and view FlexScores for GG2013.

I really like this app. However, I'm taking one star off because I would like one bit of info on each hynn: whether it is covered by CCLI or OneLicense. John Knox Press is covered by OneLicense, but that does not extend to the hymns in the hymnal, and OL's search function doesn't have most of GtG's hymns in their results list (yet). Having just a checkbox-type with the hymn's info would really help. Thanks!

Would be much better if the music would play for all verses and if all hymns were available. I was going to recommend this while our church holds virtual services due to COVID-19 but it just won't deliver what we need.

This is a great app. The Android version has a little glitch in the in-app purchases, but the developers were very helpful and sent a work around in one day.
