About this app

🔍 Scan, Discover & Compare Over 3 Million Food Products

The app allows to scan the 3 million products already contained in the free and open database Open Food Facts.
The app is collaborative. If we don't have the product, you can add pictures and data to get the Nutri-Score and NOVA score on food processing.

In short, we're kind of "the Wikipedia of food", as many have nicknamed the project. Open Food Facts has enabled the creation of over 100 apps like Date Limite, Yuka or FoodVisor.

To discover the volunteer-run Open Food Facts project, visit https://world.openfoodfacts.org/discover

🥦 Make Healthier Food Choices

➜ The Nutri-Score grade, from A to E : Nutritional quality
➜ The NOVA group, from 1 to 4 : Avoid ultra-processed foods (Group 4)

➜ On wines and beers, you will find the alcohol content.

🔬 Backed by Science, Supporting Research

➜ We don't make up things. We rely on peer-reviewed science.
➜ The Nutri-Score has been created by the independent French team led by Professor Hercberg.

A helpful tool for helping me figure out which foods are highly processed vs which are better choices for overall health. While that may be obvious for some foods, it's not so obvious for others. Developers: It would be really awesome to have an app that lets me track what I eat based on NOVA food group category! Or at minimum includes that score in apps like Fitbit, etc.!!

I find the new redesign much harder to use & navigate, and even missing the feature for which I installed it and used the most. I liked the previous design with the simple navigation bar at the bottom. The reason I first installed the app was because I am required to keep track of my carbs, and using the feature that calculates the nutrition info for a specific amount was extremely useful. If the feature does still exist, I can't find it, and the app is just overall hard to navigate.

Hi Nathan, sorry the new design is not working for you. We are still working on perfecting it, so we appreciate your feedback. Hopefully you can still find our website useful. Best, Open Food Facts team

Interesting concept, and lots of useful information. The user interface is a little confusing initially, and when you scan a product, you have to find that product in your scan history to get more details about it (or I am missing something in the confusing and clunky interface). But the clear grading of products makes it easy to complete a grocery shopping trip without having to read a bunch of labels if you are buying products you have not bought before.
