About this app

The "e-card 1939" is a fascinating guide to the Warsaw and multimedia historical timeline that includes 52 days of the life of the city between August 15, two weeks before the war, and the German victory parade October 5, 1939 year. The application uses archival and contemporary maps, unique photos, source texts of journals, diaries and newspapers, and audio and video materials, allowing to reconstruct the day to day lives of the inhabitants of the capital.

Every day you will receive brief information about where and what happened in Warsaw 75 years ago, along with a photograph and identification of the event on the map.

The application has the ability to compare archival photographs's picture, so that it creates an original version of the guide. For more information, additional films and iconography can be found on the website www.wrzesien39.waw.pl

The new card from the calendar appears every day in your application with the arrival of the day concerned. Use our calendar, view photos, and events in Warsaw. Search for places on the map of the capital and see how it looks today, this part of the city. Take a picture and add to the application.
