About this app

Free official guide to the Museo Galileo.

Toward the mid-sixteenth century, Cosimo I de’ Medici formed the first nucleus of the collections exhibited in the Museum today. Highlights include all the original instruments designed by Galileo, including his only two surviving telescopes.
The guide provides information on all the items on display.

Please note:
- The app requires an Internet connection. Free WiFi is available in the Museum.
- To listen to the audio content within the Museum you will need earbuds.

A great idea, and lots of hard work has gone into it, however, the videos are too vague and too rambling. I would like to find out about specific pieces and how they worked, and after being redirected to the same video 3 times in one room we gave up. Also not helped by lots of other visitors listening to it loudly. unfortunately no descriptions of instruments other than this app. A museum with great items, but no useful way of accessing information about them.

The audio descriptions are excellent and just the right length. There are also animations of lots of the instruments which are exceptionally well done. We would suggest that the app enhances the visit 10 fold. Unfortunately "full collection" doesn't load but the visit is good without as there is enough with the audio.

It often crashes , freezes, fails to start, and the UX is very poor' but...it contains lot of information and the English translation is of good quality. So download it anyway
