Really good service, although I haven't used it lately because I havent had time to study Chinese. It is much better to have input which has been carefully chosen to be at an appropriate level rather than anything written for native speakers—even children, who are very different from second-language beginners. Totally worth a subscroption.

Awful. First "lesson" just plays an essay in spoken Chinese with corresponding Chinese characters and then quizzes you on the ~100 characters it just showed you. That would be challenging if I'd been studying the language for a year. Impossible and a miserable experience for a complete beginner. Worthless app. Feels like it was made by people with zero experience in teaching language.

We would expect students to have at least a foundation level in Chinese before accessing. However, we have beginner videos which may be accessible beforehand. Great app for learning to read Chinese! Includes audio and can click for definitions. One bug I've noticed though is if using traditional characters, sometimes the title of the article doesn't show up. But if you switch to simplified, you can see the title in simplified characters. It seems to happen randomly though. Also wish you could click on characters in the title for definition and pronunciation. But all and all, great tool for learning to read Chinese.
