About this app

The idea for The Oldie magazine was cooked up by its founding editor, Richard Ingrams, and current Editor, Alexander Chancellor, with the support and encouragement of many top journalists. It was envisaged as a light-hearted alternative to a press obsessed with youth and celebrity, a truly independent, freethinking magazine. The Oldie offers almost no advice about retirement or how to grow old, but keeps you young with a steady supply of wit, entertainment and bracing good sense.

It is published every four weeks and has a happy mixture of features, arts and book reviews and its famous cartoons.

You can purchase an auto-renewable subscription to The Oldie magazine app for £34.99 per year.

- Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period
- You will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current subscription period

Good App which makes the magazine easy to digest on Android devices. However, it behaves rather oddly when you try to close it. If a magazine is active and you try to close the App, the App immediately pops open again at the main Home page and requires closing a second time. Also, I'm not sure what the purpose of the font-size selection is in the App's main menu as it does not appear to change anything; the font appears fixed at a standard - albeit comfortable - size within the magazine. A clearer way to switch to page thumbnails would be handy. It would be good if these issues were addressed in a future update. | Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
